I’m a photographer and director who works both in the states and internationally. With a strong focus in outdoor/adventure, lifestyle, portraiture and story telling, my goal is to capture a feeling that puts the viewer right into the experience. …End of elevator speech.
As far as who I am, I’m a traveler, an adventurer, a dreamer, and a burrito connoisseur. I hail from the north and call Minnesota home. Along with my wife, Jenna, I am a co-founder of our travel site, www.WanderTheMap.com. In the last three years, I have spent more nights in hotel rooms, campers, oTENTiks, yurts and tents then my own bed. Road trips are among my favorite activities, and I love spending time with family. When I’m not making photos or shooting videos for clients, I’m usually making photos and shooting videos. I feel incredibly fortunate that I can do what I love for a living, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
A project I’m currently working on is called “Crafted By Light”. In a garage in northern Minnesota, I decided to build a camera with my dad to produce tintypes. I’ve always been fascinated by the Wet Plate Collodion (tintype) process. I also love building things and have a huge appreciation for hand crafted goods, which is why we decided to build the camera by hand. There was something about being able to create a one of a kind images, on a 4×5 piece of tin, using nothing more than some chemicals and light, that I had to explore. In a world of digital technology, it’s given me the opportunity to step back and really use my time not taking, but creating an image, which is something I feel get’s lost in the digital world. This is a new chapter in my photographic experience and am excited to see where this camera takes me. Click HERE to view gallery. Crafted By Light is also on Instagram–Follow Along!
